PROFESSIONAL SERVICES

(Help for Writers of English as a Second Language)

• Proofreading (defined) : Identifying and correcting mechanical errors, such as spelling, punctuation, etc. (slight revision, spelling, punctuation, and mechanics only). For more information, click here.
  
  
• Copyediting (defined): Preparing the final draft for publication (moderate revision, thematic and logical development, sentence and paragraph structure, grammar, in addition to spelling, punctuation, and mechanics, usually less than ten errors per page). For more information, click here.
  
  
• Rewriting (defined) : Finding the right word, correcting grammatical mistakes, organizing, correcting mechanical mistakes and spelling errors, polishing the rough draft, etc. (major revision, usually more than ten errors per page). For more information, click here.
  

(Should you wish to submit a paper for editing, please submit your request, e.g. "Please (proofread/ copyedit/ rewrite) the attached document," your name, email address, local mailing address and telephone number, any special style sheet requirements, and your Apple TextEdit or Microsoft Word document, not to exceed five (5) double-spaced pages per submission, via email to

The fee for proofreading [mechanical errors only, no revision required] is $20.00 per hour  (academic rate, $10.00 per hour); the fee for copyediting [minor grammatical and mechanical errors, not to exceed ten (10) errors per page] is $30.00 per hour (academic rate, $15.00 per hour); the fee for rewriting [more than ten (10) errors per page] is $40 per hour (academic rate, $20.00 per hour).
